Robert Jackson born in Ireland. MacDonald's book contains a copy of a family Bible that confirms this, as well as his marriage to Mary Henthorn, daughter of James and Mary Henthorn, who was born in Chester Co, PA on 29 Sep 1733. James Henthorn was living in Frederick Co, MD in 1760. James Hentorn's will is recorded at Martinsburg, WV, and it lists Mary Jackson as one of his children.
Robert and Mary Henthorn Jackson's first three children (Abraham, Mary, & Isaac) were born in MD. In 1783, Robert Jackson, Sr. was an inhabitant of Manallen Twp, Westmoreland Co, PA. This then became Fayette Co, PA. His brother Hugh Jackson, Jr. had moved there earlier, and members of the Henthorn family had moved to that area also.
The will of Robert Jackson, Sr. is filled at Uniontown, PA, Vol. 1, pg 383. It was prepared on 26 May 1803 and recorded on 3 Oct 1809. The will does not mention his wife; it mentions his children as heirs, including: Abraham, Isaac and his wife Anne, Mary Thompson, Rebecca Watson, Sara Work, and Robert Jackson, Jr. Robert Jr. inherited the farms, but after selling them in 1810, he and his wife Margaret Henthorn Jackson moved to Clark Co, IN, where her father William Henthorn had already moved.
The genealogy of the "Jackson family". Prepared by Hugh Parks Jackson. Assisted by Hugh Hogue Thompson, and James R. Jackson. [Urbana, Ohio, Press of Citizen and Gazette Co.] 1890. Library of Congress Classification: CS71.J13 1890, states that this Jackson family was originally from Scotland, but that they lived in Ireland for several years prior to immigrating to America. It indicates that Robert Jackson had a brother Samuel, who was "a sturdy Quaker;" it states nothing about their father Hugh or Robert being a Quaker.
According to the 1889 History of Fayette Co indicates that Robert & Mary Henthorn Jackson, Sr. were buried near their home in Menallen, Twp along the Cumberland Rd, now US 40, but that the markers had long since disappeared.

The following is excerpts from Daughters of the American Revolution, National number 219961, and National number 195123, also Pennsylvania Archives Volume 2, series 6th page 386:
According to Fayette Co., PA history, John and James Henthorn, brothers, settled in what is now Fayette County, then Westmoreland, in the vicinity of Uniontown, Redstone County in 1769. Robert Jackson, whose wife, Mary was a sister of John and James Henthorn, is known to have settled there about the same time and made application for land, for which he received "Warrant of Survey" dated February 7, 1785, a tract called 'Cross Roads', 300 acres. His deed is filed in County clerk's office. Vol. 1 pp1730175.
The name Robert Jackson appears in various lists in the state of Pennsylvania during the Revolutionary War, and without a doubt, Robert of Fayette County served in the war earlier than the above records prove. However, on account of the difficulty of identification of the individual, it is best to confine ourselves to the facts we have.
Robert Jackson and his father, Hugh Jackson, saw service in the French and Indian War.
Tradition in the family is that for some time after their settlement, they were frequently forced to flee to Fort Wheeling on account of Indian invasions during the4 closing years of the war.
The above two records prove beyond a doubt that Robert Jackson was in service more than once and Took part in one of the history making expeditions of the frontier.
Excerpts from History of Fayette County, PA;
Mrs Hogsett was the daughter of Robert Jackson of the old Jackson family of Menallen township, who organized Trace Church near Searight's the oldest Episcopal Church in the county.
A fourth church building of the same material (logs) as the others was erected about halfway between Uniontown and Brownsville, on the farm of Robert Jackson.
Robert Jackson's headstone is among the oldest traceable in the cemetery adjacent to the church of the Associated Reformed Congregation of Laurel Hill in Dunbar.
Excerpts for the will of Robert Jackson:
The rest of my estate to be divided in the manner following; If there remains any my oldest son, Abraham, I allow him seven shillings and six pence. I allow Anne, the wife of my son Isaac, the sugar camp that she attends on my plantation.
